This past weekend, Chris and I enjoyed a quiet weekend in the forest and officially closed up camp for the season.
It’s always a bittersweet ritual . . . enjoying our warm morning coffee by the fire in a golden forest, taking down the tents and party lights, bringing the canoe back up from the lake, covering the wood piles, and feeling both gratitude and a little ache as we say goodbye to another season in the forest.
Our new shed is packed full, the girls had a great time chasing chipmunks and tumbling through piles of leaves, and I found myself reflecting on the rhythm of endings and beginnings as I considered how every closing holds the seed of something new.
It reminded me of my personal Crystal Forecast reading from last year. The stone that came forward for me as an ally for the year was Ruby in Fuscite, with the message: “It’s time to shake things up.”
At the time, I wasn’t sure what that meant… but as this year has unfolded, I can see its wisdom playing out . . . From welcoming Clover into our family, to letting go of our beloved camper, and now considering a part-time, temporary return to Occupational Therapy (yes you read that right. Are you surprised? I was and yet it feels soooo right. I share more in this week’s podcast episode). Life has definitely been rearranging itself in the most unexpected ways.
These shifts are inviting me to look at what it really means to harvest what’s been planted, to circle back into things I thought were complete, and to discover what still holds life and vitality.
