Yesterday was full moon.  In fact it was a supermoon…meaning that the moon becomes full in the same hour that it is physically closest to the earth.

Have you ever paid attention to how the moons cycles impact you emotionally, physically, or spiritually?

Years ago when I worked in the schools as an occupational therapist, we would recognize a full moon not because we were keeping track or paying attention to it in the sky, but because of the unusual ways the children would behave.  It always seemed to be the thing that tuned us into what was happening in the sky.  Initially I just thought it was coincidence, but since then I have spent a lot of time tracking and tuning into how I respond (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) during different phases of the moon.

At first I tracked it because I was curious, but as I began seeing patterns I began seeing how my own lunar rhythms impacted my relationships, my ability to focus on projects, how creative I felt, how physically active I felt like being, and even how clearly connected to spirit I felt.

Understanding my own lunar rhythms has helped me to flow with what is natural for me rather than trying to push up against something that was not working or just is not in its right timing.

If this is something you’ve thought about exploring, here’s a great place to begin…

Mark your calendar for both the full and new moon.  Yesterday was full moon, new moon is 8/25, next full moon is 9/8, and so on.  New moon and full moon typically fall about 14.5 days apart.  Then begin taking note…how did you feel emotionally, physically, and spiritually?  Keep your notes simple and let yourself begin to notice any patterns.

As you begin to recognize those patterns, begin adjusting your activity to match what your mind, body and spirit are needing in order to be fully nourished.  Let yourself be creative and let it be fun.

I would love to hear what you discover…or if you’re someone who has been tracking your rhythms for a long time, share your story.  You can leave a note in the comments section:

Wishing you a beautiful week!

Shine Brightly!
