Chris, the girls, and I are all back up at camp, leaning into our summer slowdown . . . and goodness, summer in the forest is nourishing.
Amidst a handful of little projects — like figuring out how to repair my skillsaw (I do love to tinker), building some very basic shelves for our little cabin space, and settling more deeply into this season — I’ve also been enjoying daily swims, quiet reflection time, and the way my flute echoes across the lake.
I’ve been diving into some creative crystal projects too, and the sweetest little butterfly visitor stayed with me throughout one of them, fluttering nearby as I worked. It felt like a blessing on the project . . . a tiny whisper of encouragement from the day itself.
The forest reveals herself differently every summer.
This year we’ve been blessed to witness nesting birds, three new eagles on the lake, and copper popping up everywhere on our walks. I know copper is abundant up here, but sometimes it feels almost veiled from my field of vision . . . and this year, that veil seems to have lifted. Goodness, I’m finding some beautiful pieces.
I savor summer in the forest.
